I bought myself a Samsung FPT5084 50″ Plasma HDTV and it is an amazing TV. I’d just like to state first of all that people complaining about the quality of standard definition channels are just going to have to deal with it. You stretch a 480i or 480p image that is stretched out to fit this 50” screen with over 2 million pixels and yes, the quality is going to be lower than you’d like. There’s not much the TV itself can do to fix this. Until most channels are in high definition it’s a problem we’re just going to have to deal with. The HD channels have phenomenal quality.
The best I’ve ever seen. As long as you are inputting a high res signal like 720p or 1080p it looks amazing. Only thing I don’t like about the plasma is it draws so much power and puts out a lot of heat but it’s a small price to pay for such high quality picture. Overall this TV was a great purchase that I have no regrets about.
