The Samsung FP-T5084 is a 1080p 50″ Plasma HDTV. It has amazing picture that is extremely crisp when viewing it from any angle. The 18-bit video processor along with the 15,000:1 contrast ratio gives you an amazingly sharp image even in fast-action. Plasma HDTV’s have always been said to be the best option for movie watching or gaming. The FilterBright anti-reflection filter makes it the best option for watching in a room that lighting cannot be controlled or if it is well lit. It has two hidden 15-watt speaker on the sides that offer SRS TruSurround XT which is a technology Samsung has developed to make simulated surround sound. This TV is pretty small for a 50″ widescreen. It measures only 50.8″ x 29.1″ x 3.7″ although it weighs 106.9 pounds which isn’t too bad, but more than a LCD of similar size.
The Plasma Display Panel (PDP) is a flat panel display that lots of HDTV’s use. It has lots of small cells that are between two panels of glass. These cells hold usually xenon and neon gases. Electricity is used to turn the cells into a plasma which excites phosphors and emits light which makes the picture we see.

I bought myself a Samsung FPT5084 50″ Plasma HDTV and it is an amazing TV. I’d just like to state first of all that people complaining about the quality of standard definition channels are just going to have to deal with it. You stretch a 480i or 480p image that is stretched out to fit this 50” screen with over 2 million pixels and yes, the quality is going to be lower than you’d like. There’s not much the TV itself can do to fix this. Until most channels are in high definition it’s a problem we’re just going to have to deal with. The HD channels have phenomenal quality.

I did tons of research before buying a Samsung FP-T5084 50 inch Plasma TV . I was comparing some of the Samsung LCD’s and plasmas with some of the Aquos and Panasonic plasmas and came to a solid conclusion that this was the best value for the price. It has a true 15000:1 contrast ratio, not the dynamic contrast like many LCD’s have. The picture is awesome with my HD DVD player. I’ve never seen such clarity on a picture before in my life. You could spend two to three times as much on a Pioneer Elite but it is hardly worth it. The picture is extremely crisp and fluid on this Samsung 1080p Plasma.

I just got my Samsung 50″ FPT5084 about five days ago from Amazon. The shipping service was great. They carried it right into my house and set it up for me where I wanted it. Much more than you’d expect for free shipping. The price on this thing was unbeatable and with a two year warranty from Samsung how can you go wrong. I was actually looking to buy an LCD HDTV. I was comparing three of them at Best Buy that were all really nice but the plasma just caught my eye.

When I bought my Samsung FP T5084 HDTV first thing I did was hook up my PS3 and play Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Even though this game is only 720p it looked amazing. I had to take some time to admire the background before I could start playing the game, it was almost distracting. The picture looks great even in fast action. Nice and smooth without any pixilation.

I’ve had my Samsung FP-T5084 50″ Plasma HDTV for a couple of days now and I love it. I have a PS3 and a 1.3 HDMI cable and the picture is absolutely amazing. I watched a few movies in 1080p and I was blown away. The picture is lifelike, no pixilation or judder with the fast action scenes and the colors are amazing. One thing that had me scared to buy a plasma was images getting burned into the screen but this one comes with “Pixel Shift” which is supposed to help prevent that. It even has some built in programs to help get rid of the burn-in if it does every happen but one of the tech guys at a local electronics store said these new plasmas would take a few hours of no movement for the picture to get burnt in.
